A Central Islip man frustrated with the Long Island Power Authority telephoned a television station and threatened to place a bomb at an unknown LIPA facility, Nassau County police said Saturday.
Rajiv Pandey, 33, whose power was out, called News 12 Long Island in Woodbury on Friday and made the bomb threat, police said.
The threat prompted police to dispatch officers to more than 30 facilities to check for an explosive.
An investigation revealed that bomb threat call was placed from Pandey's cellphone, police said.
Officers with the Special Investigations Squad arrested Pandey early Saturday and charged him with falsely reporting an incident.
He was awaiting arraignment Saturday in First District Court in Central Islip.
Earlier this week, Nassau County police arrested Walter Murphy, 46, of Hicksville, on an aggravated threat charge after he called the county's emergency management department and made threats against LIPA.
Murphy made the unspecified threat on Wednesday because he was irate over not having electricity, police said.
