The body of man reported missing from Stony Brook University Medical Center was found Wednesday afternoon along Nicolls Road, according to Suffolk County police.

John Heiberger, 46, of East Setauket, was treated Friday at Stony Brook University Medical Center. He disappeared the same day from the hospital’s triage unit. Officials notified Stony Brook University police, who then contacted the Suffolk County Police Department.

Heiberger's body was found by a man walking on the northbound side of Nicolls Road behind a guardrail, in a heavily wooded area, cops said.

Police have not yet determined the cause of death.
