Manhasset library voting on trustee, budget
The Manhasset Public Library annual budget vote and trustee election will be held next Wednesday.
The proposed $4.66-million budget represents a 2.9 percent increase over the current $4.52-million budget. The library estimated the tax rate would increase by 3.4 percent.
The budget calls for a 3.1 percent increase in mandated health care and pension contributions but, library trustees said in the budget message, that cost is offset by staff retirements and the selective filling of positions.
Two candidates, Robert Carrozzo and David M. Ehrlich, are competing for one five-year seat on the board of trustees. The winner will replace outgoing trustee Richard Tortora.
Voting will be from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the community room at the library, 30 Onderdonk Ave.
