Manhasset meeting about cell tower plan
Residents can ask questions about a cell tower proposed for Nassau County’s Bayview garage in Manhasset at a community meeting Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Manhasset Public Library, 30 Onderdonk Ave.
Beacon Wireless, which is seeking a license for the tower, and county planning officials are expected to make presentations.
The meeting was organized by Nassau Legis. Judi Bosworth (D-Great Neck), the Bayview Civic Association and the Greater Council of Manhasset Civic Associations.
Rich Bentley, president of the Council of Greater Manhasset Civic Associations, said some residents were concerned about how the cell tower would look and how close it would be to fields where students play sports.
“Given the topography, where this facility is at the base of a steep hillside, we are concerned,” he said.
The Nassau County Planning Commission will continue its public hearing on the proposal June 9, said Satish Sood, county deputy planning commissioner.
The commission could vote on the application as early as June 23, he said.
