Manhasset Valley Park is getting a facelift.

New bathrooms, walking paths, a playground and new athletic field will be added to the park, which sits at the corner of Northern Boulevard and East Shore Road.

The baseball field will also be reconstructed with a turf infield.

The Town of North Hempstead’s 2011 capital plan authorized $1.5 million for the project, and the Indians Rock Community Foundation and Manhasset Police Activity League have pledged to raise $150,000.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has committed more than $800,000 for engineering analysis and design to restore a stream running through the park that feeds Manhasset Bay.

The athletic field is likely to be completed next year, Town Supervisor Jon Kaiman said, but the Army Corps work could take years.
