Manorhaven skateboard park opens Sunday

The Town of North Hempstead’s long-awaited skateboard park is opening Sunday at Manorhaven Beach Park.

The Skate Spot, a 10,000-square-foot skateboard plaza featuring curved ramps and stairs, will officially open at noon.

The estimated cost is $100,000, and the design incorporated sketches created by local teenage skaters.

The town board approved the park in May to give skaters a place to practice without being shooed away.
