Manorville road review follows fatal crash

Suffolk County public works officials have begun a review of road conditions along two miles of County Road 111 in Manorville and will take part in a community meeting Monday in the wake of fatal car crash that killed a mother and son and critically injured her two other children last month.
Gilbert Anderson said his department received detailed data from police investigators Tuesday about the Oct. 8 crash. Officials attending the public hearing expect to hear local residents’ concerns about problems with the roadway.
The accident occurred when a Ford van driven by Steven Vonfricken, 51, of St. James, headed south on 111, crashed into a Honda sedan traveling east on Montauk Avenue. The crash killed the sedan’s driver, Keri Trinca, 30, and her son, Jason, 7, and left her two other children, Maria, 4, and Christopher, 2, above, seriously injured.
The community meeting is to be held in the Eastport South Manor High School at 7 p.m.
