DeMarre Carroll, Jeff Teague lead Hawks to 10th straight victory
The Atlanta Hawks have the best record in the Eastern Conference and have won 10 straight for the first time in 17 years.
Life is so good for the Hawks, they even have the depth to platoon starters during a busy stretch.
DeMarre Carroll and Jeff Teague responded from a night off with 22 points apiece, helping the Hawks to a 105-91 victory over the host Boston Celtics last night.
"It's just the start. It's a long season, so we're not too excited," Teague said.
Not even a little?
The Hawks have their first double-digit winning streak since winning 11 in a row early in the 1997-98 season. They also have won 10 straight on the road, the longest streak in club history.
Teague, Paul Millsap and Carroll were well-rested after getting a night off Tuesday, when Al Horford led the Hawks past Philadelphia with his first career triple-double. Last night, it was Horford and veteran outside shooter Kyle Korver resting as their teammates easily took care of the Celtics.
"I don't like it, but it's Coach's call and it paid off for us," said Millsap, who had 18 points and 10 rebounds for his ninth double-double of the season.
Wizards 105, Bulls 99: Paul Pierce had 22 points as visiting Washington got the win, despite Derrick Rose's season-high 32. John Wall scored 10 of his 21 in the fourth quarter. Bradley Beal added 17, and the Wizards knocked off the Central division leaders for the second time in six days. The Bulls played the second half without Joakim Noah, who injured his right ankle.
Spurs 98, Hornets 93: Manu Ginobili had 27 points, shooting 10-for-14, as visiting San Antonio snapped Charlotte's winning streak at five. Danny Green scored 18 points and Tim Duncan added 14 points and 10 rebounds to help the defending champion Spurs beat the Hornets for the eighth straight time. Kemba Walker had 28 points for the Hornets.
Magic 120, Rockets 113: Victor Oladipo had 32 points, Nik Vucevic added 25 and 12 rebounds, and host Orlando rallied for the win. James Harden had 26 points and 10 assists to lead Houston.
Pelicans 105, Pistons 94: Anthony Davis had 27 points and 10 rebounds for visiting New Orleans. The Pistons came in having won nine of 10. The Pelicans were missing Jrue Holliday (ankle), but easily picked up their second win in five games. Brandon Jennings scored 19 for the Pistons,
Raptors 100, 76ers 84: Kyle Lowry had 18 points and 12 assists, DeMar DeRozan returned from a groin injury to score eight of his 20 points in the fourth quarter and host Toronto never trailed.
Clippers 100, Trail Blazers 94: Jamal Crawford scored 25 points and DeAndre Jordan had 17 points and 18 rebounds for the visiting Clippers, who ended Portland's winning streak at four.
Warriors 104, Heat 89: Stephen Curry scored 32 points, including seven three-pointers, for the host Warriors, who won their eighth in a row. Miami's Dwyane Wade was sidelined with a strained left hamstring.
Nuggets 114, Mavericks 107: Ty Lawson had 29 points and 12 assists for host Denver, which won its fifth in a row. -- AP
