Nassau County Comptroller George Maragos and his predecessor and challenger Howard Weitzman will field questions today about county finances, at the Plainview Public Library.

The Coalition of Nassau Civic Associations is sponsoring the public event, which begins at 7 p.m. Maragos, a Republican, defeated Democrat Weitzman in the 2009 general election. Weitzman served as comptroller for eight years.

“People have financial questions about the county and who better to ask than the comptroller?” said Phil Franco, president of the association. Franco said that questions about county infrastructure have come up at past association meetings. He said he expects Maragos and Weitzman to field questions about infrastructure, bonding and the general financial health of the county.
