1. 'Teen Idols' tour

Move over Justin Bieber. That hair, that smile, that voice all belong to David Cassidy, who became a singing sensation in true teen-idol fashion in the '70s. Best known for his role as Keith Partridge on the TV sitcom "The Partridge Family," he also had a successful solo singing career with a show at Madison Square Garden that sold out in less than 30 minutes (without the Internet) and resulted in riots. Now he's coming to NYCB Theatre at Westbury to kick off the "World's Greatest Teen Idols" tour, where he'll be joined by the Monkees' Micky Dolenz and Peter Noone, better known as "Herman" of Herman's Hermits.

2. Artisans on display

The Art and Craft Spring Fling gathers more than 75 juried artists and craftsmen (picked on high quality of originality and creativity) displaying their designs in the Student Activity Center at Stony Brook University. These artists do a lot more than just work with a pair of scissors and some glue -- you'll find stained glass, handmade jewelry, original art, floral arrangements and lots more. Feel free to ask the artisans questions about their creations.

3. 'Boeing, Boeing'

A playboy living in a high-end neighborhood in swinging '60s Paris juggles affairs with three flight attendants, all on different work schedules. Then his love life comes unraveled when the faster Boeing jet is introduced and their timetables are thrown off in the comedy "Boeing, Boeing" at the John W. Engeman Theater at Northport through May 5.

4. Spring egg hunt

Ready, set and hop to it! Thousands of colored eggs filled with goodies will be placed around the picnic grove at Belmont Lake State Park for the annual outdoor event. One hunt is held per age category (younger than 4, ages 5-6 and 7-9) every 15 minutes. After the hunt (rain or shine) families are invited to bring their cameras for a "glamour shot" with the Spring Bunny or stay for a petting zoo, pony rides, games, inflatable rides and environmental crafts.

5. Hitchcock weekend

Just as he did with those cameos in his films, the late director Alfred Hitchcock seems to be popping up everywhere (last fall's HBO movie "The Girl" and the feature film "Hitchcock" starring Anthony Hopkins). For another sighting, check out Bay Street Theatre's Hitchcock weekend, where you can catch a screening of two by the Master of Suspense: the 1950 thriller "Stage Fright" with Marlene Dietrich and Jane Wyman on Friday and the comic caper "To Catch a Thief" with Cary Grant and Grace Kelly on Saturday.

6. Cash in

Test your luck at some games of chance -- slot machines, roulette, blackjack -- as Posh at the Garden City Hotel opens its doors for a casino night to benefit the Nassau County Museum of Art. Each player gets $200 in play money to get the evening's play started for a chance to win prizes. Proceeds benefit the museum's exhibitions and educational programming.

7. Barrel tasting

Take a behind-the-scenes tour of the production area at one of the first vineyards to grace the North Fork. Join resident winemaker Edward Lovaas in the "closed" production area at Pindar Vineyards. where you'll see how wine is made and learn about its aging process. The tour concludes with a tasting of wines direct from the aged barrels; assorted cheeses and crackers will be served.

8. Seeds and seedlings

Give a local farmer a head start on the growing season as you go outdoors to plant a variety of seeds (in trays) with the director at Quail Hill Farm. You'll plant celery, parsley, beans, squash and more. Come May 18, everyone will be invited back to the farm to transplant the seedlings into the fields. All materials are provided. You'll also get advice on growing your own veggies and tips on creating and using compost in your home garden.

9. Spring hike

Take a hike with a naturalist from the Seatuck Environmental Association, around scenic Stump Pond in Blydenburgh County Park in search of flora and fauna. Don't forget your boots -- you'll be hiking on sandy, flat trails as you search for signs of spring on a steady-paced, 6.5-mile hike. Bring lunch or a snack and water.

10. Emmylou and Rodney

Grammy Award winners and country music legends Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell come to the Paramount to perform songs from their new album, "Old Yellow Moon." The two have been friends and music collaborators since the '70s, and their first full duet album reflects that. Also on the bill is the Richard Thompson Electric Trio.
