Marcie Mazzola 5k coming up in Huntington

The Marcie Mazzola Foundation will hold its fifth annual 5k Run/Walk and Kids Fun Run on April 10 at the Huntington YMCA, 60 Main St. The Fun Run starts at 8 a.m., with the 5k beginning at 8:30 a.m.

The foundation was founded by Mazzola’s family after she was killed in a traffic accident at the age of 21 in 2002. Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit the Huntington YMCA Summer Camp, the New York Organ Donor Network and Splashes of Hope, a Huntington-based organization that paints murals in children’s hospital wards.

Registration is $20 for the 5k and $6 for the Fun Run if completed by April 2. Sponsorship opportunities ranging from $100-$1,000 are available.
