This year, Maria Regina School in Seaford celebrated the 40th anniversary of Earth Day.  First, the school held two fundraisers to pay for the new compost machine the Maria Regina's "Go Green" club purchased.  The students in the club will create a compost pile to be used as fertilizer.  To do this, students "dressed down" in earth tones instead of wearing their regular uniforms, and the seventh and eighth graders baked desserts representing the beauty of the Earth and problems challening our environment.  These desserts were sold at lunch time.  In addition, the seventh and eighth graders made a wide variety of toys using recycled materials such as cans, bottles, and boxes.  These toys included games, sea animals, musical instruments, and doll houses as well as robots.
