Matthew Kunkel, Suffolk Scholar Artist for February

Matthew Kunkel divides his time between Northport High School and the Long Island High School for the Arts. He has a high grade point average and participates in many school activities, but lives and breathes theater. Matthew is actively involved in all facets of the theater program at Northport High School where he is president of their theater club, assists with technical aspects of shows, performs in shows and has directed four school productions.
For two years Matthew has been a theater major at The Long Island High School for The Arts where he works on every show, both onstage and backstage.  In addition to working school productions, Matthew also works at The Smithtown Center For The Performing Arts.  He has acted as both Stage Manager and Assistant Stage Manager on various productions there working with local and professional actors and directors.  He plans on a career in theater as a professional Director, Stage Manager and Producer.
