Mattituck's Sara Perkins, Pierson/Bridgehampton's Colman Vila throw no-hitters

Senior Sara Perkins tossed a no-hitter with seven strikeouts and no walks for Mattituck in a five-inning, 22-0 win over Stony Brook yesterday in a Suffolk League VII/VIII softball crossover.
Perkins hit a home run in the third inning to give Mattituck (2-3) a 4-0 lead. Lisa Angell went 2-for-4 with five RBIs in the win."Her changeup was working and everything else was going well for her," coach Kelly Pickering said.BASEBALL
Pierson/Bridgehampton 9, Shelter Island 0:Senior Colman Vila tossed a no-hitter with 17 strikeouts and a walk to lead Pierson/Bridgehampton (14-1) in Suffolk League IX. Tim Markowski hit a two-run single in the first and Johnny Chisholm added a two-run single in the fifth.
