Ask most people about Cameron Maybin and the word bust usually comes to mind. That may be the perception for Maybin, now with his third team, but he's just 24 years old. Playing in Petco Park in San Diego doesn't help for power, but the outfielder has been good since coming off the disabled list in the middle of June.

Maybin hit .288 with four stolen bases in 52 at-bats last month and is batting .324 with 12 runs, six RBIs and eight stolen bases in 71 at-bats in July. Maybin is making better contact and hitting .311 on the road compared with .237 at home.

Here are some other players to monitor.

Wilson Betemit (Tigers, 3B): Gains value in AL-only leagues by starting again. Batting .280 with three home runs, 27 RBIs, 30 runs and three stolen bases in 207 at-bats.

Jason Kipnis (Indians, 2B): Kipnis finally got called up. He was hitting .281 with 12 home runs, 54 RBIs, 12 stolen bases and an .849 OPS in 90 games at Triple-A. He should get most of the time at second base and can also play the outfield. Has speed and some power giving him relevance in mixed leagues.

Kyle Blanks (Padres, OF): Blanks was in the minor leagues recovering from Tommy John surgery and the Padres intend to play him at first base regularly after the call-up. He was batting .351 with a .716 slugging percentage with 11 home runs and 35 RBIs at Triple-A in 34 games. Worth an add in deeper mixed leagues.

Chris Narveson (Brewers, SP): If you stream two-start pitchers each week, Narveson is a good one for the upcoming period. He has a 3.81 ERA at home and faces weak-hitting Chicago and Houston at home.

Edward Mujica (Marlins, RP): Leo Nuñez's name has come up in trade rumors and manager Jack McKeon has said Mujica will close if Nuñez is dealt. He has a 2.85 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and a 35/5 K/BB ratio in 47 1/3 innings.

Pedro Alvarez (Pirates, 3B): He was overvalued in drafts and got off to a horrible start. In 125 at-bats, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2008 draft batted .208 with two home runs and 10 RBIs with a 42/12 K/BB ratio. Alvarez has been on the disabled list since May with a quad injury and was likely dropped in some leagues. Alvarez finished strong last season with 13 home runs and 53 RBIs after the All-Star break in 71 games. In his last 10 games at Triple-A, Alvarez is batting .378 with two home runs and eight RBIs and will get the call-up soon.

Lorenzo Cain (Royals, OF): It's possible the Royals could trade one of their outfielders. If they do, Cain could be called up. He's batting .318 with a .522 slugging percentage, 11 homers, and 10 stolen bases at Triple-A.

Brandon Belt (Giants, 1B): Belt doubled, homered and drove in three Tuesday night in his first game in the majors since May. Worth a shot in deeper leagues, especially if he gets at-bats.

Desmond Jennings (Rays, OF): He finally was called up Friday to take over leftfield. He batted .275 with 12 homers, 39 RBIs and 17 stolen bases at Triple-A.
