McElhone's six-goal first half leads Ward Melville
BOYS LACROSSE
Kevin McElhone scored all of his game-high six goals in the first half of Ward Melville's 18-10 Suffolk Division I boys lacrosse win at Floyd on Friday. Ward Melville (9-2) led 11-6 at the break. Will Mazzone added three goals and two assists, and Jimmy Ryan had two goals and three assists. Brian Droesch made 10 saves. Luke Miller led Floyd (6-5) with three goals and two assists.
Smithtown West 15, West Babylon 7: Sophomore James Pannell scored two goals with a career-high six assists (tying his brother Rob's school record for assists in a game) for Smithtown West (8-3). Kyle Keenan scored five goals with three assists, and Mike Perettine added four goals. Scott Harz and Alex Hennessy each scored two goals for West Babylon (4-8).
Massapequa 16, Plainview JFK 9: Ian Lukaszewicz had five goals and one assist and John Deignan three goals and an assist for Massapequa (7-1) in Nassau Conference I.Dylan Sheehan added two goals and two assists. Paul Desimone led Plainview JFK (4-5) with four goals and two assists.Wantagh 11, Long Beach 8: John Ingrilli scored four goals to lead Wantagh (6-1) in Conference B-I.James Bonanno added three goals and one assist, Mike Sanchez won 16 faceoffs and Jake Gambitsky made 10 saves. Ed Collins made 23 stops for Long Beach (3-3).
GIRLS LACROSSE
Eastport-South Manor 13, Comsewogue 11: Tara Gerstacker scored three goals with two assists, and seventh-grader Samantha Giacolone made a season-high 17 saves to lead Eastport-South Manor (10-2) in Division II. Dene DiMartino and Lisa Terry each had three goals. Michelle Rubino led Comsewogue (4-7) with three goals and an assist.
Miller Place 14, Huntington 11: Taylor Reh scored two of her six goals in the second half to help Miller Place (8-3) erase a 7-6 halftime deficit in Division II.Tiana Parella added three goals, and Casey Brown had two goals and four assists. Danielle Catanese led Huntington (6-5) with three goals and an assist.
Islip 14, Babylon 11: Kylie Ohlmiller scored six goals with two assists for Islip (7-4) in Division II. Kara Rafferty and Ashley White each had three goals, and Kirsten Tramposch made 10 saves. Shelby Fredericks led Babylon (7-5) with six goals and two assists, and Julie Piccione had a goal and five assists.
Hauppauge 18, Harborfields 9: Taylor Ranftle scored six goals with two assists, and Samantha Losco had five goals and three assists for Hauppauge (10-2) in Division II. Jennifer Porretto had three goals and an assist. Morgan Lange led Harborfields (7-4) with four goals.
Glenn 20, Center Moriches 4: Senior Mary-Kate Sivilli had a career-high 14 points (six goals, eight assists) to lead Glenn (5-6) in Division II. Nicole Palmieri had three goals and an assist. CM is 2-9.
Hicksville 11, Oceanside 9: Shannon McDonald scored four goals to lead Hicksville (2-5) in Conference II.Ashley Wynne and Brittney Hoehing each added two goals, and Michelle Filangieri made nine saves. Justine Clark led Oceanside (1-7) with two goals and one assist.
Holy Trinity 18, St. Dominic 12: Erica Gandino scored four goals and Jessica Walker added two goals and five assists for Holy Trinity (2-6) in CHSAA. Meghan Flatley had three goals and an assist. Katie O'Brien led St. Dominic (3-4) with seven goals.
