Sachem East junior guard Meagan Doherty missed today's 59-44 loss to Long Island Lutheran due to a bruised kidney. She went to Stony Brook University Hospital in the afternoon and intial tests by doctors revealed a bruised kidney, according to coach Matt Brisson, who received the information from the Doherty family.

Doherty complained of back pain at halftime Friday in a win over Lindenhurst and she finished the game with 23 points. Playing in pain is nothing new for Doherty. She played last season with a partially torn ACL using a bulky brace to protect it and this season the meniscus on the same knee has bothered her.

"She's had tough luck all year," Brisson said. "I hope she's OK."
