MEDIA: Local psychic gets SyFy reality show

Have you ever wondered what life is like for a psychic and her family?

Long Island psychic and small-business woman MaryRose Occhino will provide viewers of the cable channel SyFy a chance to find out.

Occhino, owner of Mary O's Celestial Whispers in Center Moriches, which sells statues, jewelry, meditation CDs and signed prints, is going to be the star of a reality television show on SyFy that will premiere July 15 at 9 p.m.

The show, with the working title "Mary Knows Best," will include six one-hour episodes to be produced by Atlas Media Corp. Production begins this spring. The camera will follow Occhino and her family, which includes one of her sons, Carl Corry, a Newsday.com editor.

According to a press announcement, the family is made up of three children described as "a skeptic, a paranormal investigator and a reluctant psychic."

Occhino said the show will present "the lives of regular people who are not so regular."

Occhino is host of a daily morning Sirius Satellite Radio program "Angels on Call."
