Meeting to discuss drinking water safety

The Bethpage Water District is hosting a community meeting Thursday for residents to learn about the safety of their drinking water.
The meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of Bethpage High School, 10 Cherry Ave.
District officials will discuss treatment methods, water monitoring and filtration efforts used to remove contaminants from the Grumman plume, which is emanating from the former Northrop Grumman and Navy manufacturing site near Bethpage Community Park.
Representatives from the Nassau County and state departments of health will also be present.
