Merrick teen 'Idol' to sing at start of charity run

Robbie Rosen, the Merrick teen who gained national attention this year with his appearances on the top-rated "American Idol" television show, will kick off the 2011 Marcum Workplace Challenge -- a 3.5-mile run at Jones Beach that is one of Long Island's largest fundraisers and the Island's largest picnic -- with a rendition of the national anthem.

The challenge attracts thousands of business executives and chief executives, who compete to help raise money for the Long Island Children's Museum and Long Island Cares Inc. -- the Harry Chapin Food Bank. The event has raised $150,000 for the charities. The challenge will be held July 26, starting at 7 p.m.
