Students Explore Winter Changes in an Outdoor Adventure

Holiday Wreathes made with Bird Feed

On Wednesday, December 8, 2010

Pre-Kindergarten students will have class in their outdoor classroom as they make observations, collect data and craft using natures seasonal changes. Students will craft holiday wreaths to feel birds with while they enjoy a book explaining what happens to the food supply for animals in winter.

In a society where children are spending such little time in the nature, Middle Country School District came with the initiative to have an outdoor classroom, where children can play and enjoy the benefits of being outside, in nature.

This will help promote exercise, improve concentration of children with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), as well as develop children’s powers of observation, scientific inquiry and creativity.
