Mike Midgette, who plays out of Bethpage State Park, shot 4-under-par 66 at Olde Vine Golf Club in Riverhead Monday to take medalist honors at the Long Island qualifier for the New York State Golf Association Men's Amateur.

Midgette bogeyed the first hole, then made five birdies and 12 pars to lead 12 qualifiers. Others included Steve Rose of Fresh Meadow and Peter Wilson of Piping Rock, who shot 68 and 69, respectively. The championship will be July 19-22 at Albany Country Club.
