Mike Brown on canceled watch parties outside the Garden
Mike Brown was asked about the decision by the NYPD to cancel the watch parties outside Madison Square Garden.
“I have not been out there, and I don't read anything,’’ he said. “I heard it was canceled. I don't know exactly why it's been canceled. Obviously, as a coach -- and I'm speaking selfishly, I love the NYPD, and all that, and the job that they do is tough. But, man, our fans are fantastic, and I would vote to say they deserve to celebrate how they want to celebrate, you know?
“But again, I'm not walking that beat like those guys,’’ he said. “That's real life. That’s a real-life job, you know? But hopefully they can find something to where they can let the fans enjoy the moment because our fans are second to none, and to be able to do something in this city that unites the city, or connects the city, in all facets, in all walks of life, is just, it's an unbelievable feeling."
