THE BUDGET
The district is proposing a budget for 2010-11 of $61,884,625, which is a 2.99 percent increase over the current budget of $60,085,085. The local tax levy would rise from $37,885,718 to $39,018,035, an increase of 2.99 percent.
Taxes on an average home assessed at $4,000 would increase 2.99 percent from $8,524.71 to $8,779.49.
The budget does not call for a reduction in teachers or other staff members. The budget will not necessitate significant cuts or changes to existing school programs, school officials said. Some middle school co-curricular activities would be added under the spending plan, school officials said.
The proposed budget includes an increase in teacher salaries of 1.5 percent, plus a variable step increase.
The district is also proposing a referendum on library contract services. The contract would cost $1,818,265.
