Mineola school candidate withdraws petition
A trustee candidate for the Mineola Public Schools board withdrew his petition Thursday, forcing the district to reopen the period during which candidates can file to run in the May 17 election.
Gerard Magaldi cited conflicts with his work schedule as the reason he ended his candidacy.
Nominating petitions can be picked up between 8:30 a.m and 3:30 p.m. weekdays at the district’s administrative offices, 121 Jackson Ave.
Petitions, which must be signed by 49 qualified district voters, are due to the district clerk’s office by 5 p.m. Tuesday
The petition must include the name and address of the candidate, and of each person who signs the petition.
Two three-year seats are up for election.
Current candidates are incumbents Terence Hale and William Hornberger, and challengers Veronica Levitan and Joseph Manopella.
