The Cinema Arts Centre in Huntington and the Folk Music Society of Huntington are teaming up to present a monthly concert series.

The Folk Music Society’s Hard Luck Café series will be held in Cinema Arts’ Sky Room on the third Thursday of each month, beginning this week. The concerts will begin at 8:30 p.m. and feature two acts. An hourlong open mic session will precede the concert. Admission is $7 for members of the Cinema Arts Centre or Folk Music Society, and $10 for nonmembers.

This week’s concert will feature singer songwriters Lara Herscovitch and Josh Joffen.

Herscovitch was Connecticut’s State Troubadour for 2009-10; Joffen is a two-time winner of the Kerrville New Folk Songwriting Competition.
