Morgenstern wins World Cup event in Japan
(AP) — Austrian Thomas Morgenstern has won a World Cup ski jump event in Japan for his second victory of the season.
Morgenstern, who also won two weeks ago in Bischofshofen, had jumps of 143.9 and 143.3 yards on the Okurayama Hill for a total of 271.5 points Saturday. The former World Cup champion moved into fourth place in the World Cup standings with 578 points.
Germany's Andreas Wank was second with 267.5 points, followed by Japan's Daiki Ito with 266.3.
Switzerland's Simon Ammann, who leads the overall standings with 839 points, finished fifth with 258.4 points.
