Summer means lots of movie nights in the Town of Islip.

Residents will have the opportunity to enjoy free movies, refreshments and family activities at various parks on six nights, starting Friday and continuing into early September.

The fun kicks off at Timberline Park in Brentwood Friday at 7 p.m. with a screening of “Toy Story 3.”

“The objective is to bring everyone together and bring something positive out of it,” said Suffolk Police Officer Charles Ross, the Third Precinct’s community liaison officer. “It’s a safe environment for kids to have fun and to be kids.”

Movie nights in Brentwood will be sponsored by the Third Precinct, People’s United Bank, the nonprofit Youth Enrichment Services and several local Neighborhood Watch groups, Ross said. Other movie nights at Timberline Park are scheduled for Aug. 26 and Sept. 23, both at 7 p.m.

Movie nights will also be held July 28 at Broadway Park in Sayville, Aug. 18 at Holbrook Country Club and Sept. 8 at Casamento Park in West Islip. All are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
