You try being home all day with three boys, ages 10, 8 and 5.

Andrew Hazen, who loves his three sons, found it, well, challenging. Hazen admits he did "pretty well" in November when Prime Visibility, a Melville-based Internet marketing company he started in 1998 while working at a Syosset law firm, was acquired for $36 million by a California-based search-engine company, blinkx plc.

It was the second time Prime Visibility was bought. The company was first acquired in 2007 by an investors group. Hazen stayed on, retaining the title of founder.

This time, he said, "I decided to leave. I was able to catch my breath financially. My children are taken care of. I thought I could enjoy life a little bit, do some traveling."

That lasted awhile, but not too long. Hazen, 38, of Syosset, was Mr. Mom. "I have three young kids and at 3 o'clock they come off the bus." That meant chauffeuring and other duties.

Suddenly, an office seemed appealing again. Hazen, an attorney, took a job right after the start of the new year at the Uniondale-based law firm Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, working to develop a digital media practice. "I'm going to help them become the go-to firm" for digital media, Hazen said. "The trade-off was putting on a tie, which I haven't done in 13 years."
