When he was confirmed by the State Senate in January as the new chairman and chief executive of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Joseph Lhota promised to be a "rider-chairman."

Tuesday morning, as members of the Long Island Association will have the chance to hear how much riding and chairing Lhota hbeen doing.

It will be Lhota's first official visit to the Island since he took the helm at the MTA in early January.

Some likely issues: the MTA payroll tax, which Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo partially rolled back in February; the second track between Farmingdale and Ronkonkoma; and a fare hike scheduled for January 2013.

Lhota's talk is set for 8 a.m. at LIA headquarters, 300 Broadhollow Rd., Melville.
