The Town of North Hempstead’s annual Operation Clean Sweep begins Monday.

Street sweepers and road crews will be out in unincorporated parts of the town for two weeks cleaning streets, handicap ramps, catch basins and storm drains.

The effort will cover 300 lane miles and involve 80 trucks and 100 town employees, public information officer Sidhartha Nathan said.

All town streets south of the Long Island Expressway will be cleaned between Monday and Friday; streets on the north side will be cleaned from May 2 to 6.

The Highway Department asks residents not to park vehicles on the streets between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. weekdays during the sweep.
