North Hempstead is hosting a kids safety day July 26 at Mary Jane Davies Green in Manhasset, where lessons will be offered about fire, pool and beach safety along with crossing the street, riding a bike and what to do when a stranger approaches.

And in this era of social networking, a demonstration will focus on cyber-bullying and how to safely use the Internet.

Special displays, demonstrations and face painting will be featured at the event, which Town Supervisor Jon Kaiman said will serve “as a vehicle for demonstrating the notion that when local government partners with the community, we can play the role of the village it takes to raise our children safely.”

The event is scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m.

For more information, call 311 from within the town or 516-869-6311 from outside town boundaries.
