N. Hempstead targets holiday lights, e-waste
The Town of North Hempstead is asking residents to dump more than just their Christmas trees as they clean up from the holidays.
A special time has been set up for residents to drop off old holiday lights, as the town encourages its citizens to switch to energy-efficient LED lights.
Old lights can be discarded from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.every Sunday through the end of January at the town’s residential drop-off site, 999 W. Shore Rd., Roslyn.
In addition, the town has set up a School Recyling Partnership Program, a program with the town’s school districts to collect unwanted electronic gadgets.
You can find out where and when to drop off e-waste through the month of January here.
