Nassau champ Lowe shoots 34 to lift Farmingdale
Reigning Nassau County individual golf champion Matt Lowe shot 2-under-par 34 on the front nine on Bethpage Blue as Farmingdale topped Levittown District, 8-1, in its season opener Tuesday.
Freshman Kyle Brey shot 1-over 37 for the Dalers (1-0), who extended their Conference IV unbeaten streak to 29 matches.
Massapequa 9, Bethpage 0: John Conlon shot 5-over-35 on Bethpage Yellow to lead Massapequa (1-0) in Conference IV.
East Meadow 6, Roslyn 3: Timothy Kearon shot a school-record 2-under 34 on the front nine at Eisenhower White to lead East Meadow (1-0 Conference VI), coach Tim Reynolds told Newsday.
Half Hollow Hills West 7, Glenn 2: Richard Pino shot 2-over 38 on the front nine at Crab Meadow Country Club to lead Half Hollow Hills West (1-0) in Suffolk League III. BOYS SOCCERChaminade 1, St. Benedict's 0: Richard Peteka scored with 8:20 left in the first half on an assist from Nick Cadispotti to lift Chaminade (1-0) in non-league. Ricky Berotti had 10 saves, including two saves from close range in the first half. Chaminade is the No. 9 team on the ESPN Rise Poll and St. Benedict's is ranked 12th.
