Nassau civic group to install first board

The Coalition of Nassau Civic Associations will meet tonight to discuss the toxic Grumman plume, Long Island’s drinking water, a liquefied natural gas port off Long Beach and an ocean outfall pipe at Bay Park.
The meeting will be at 7 p.m. at the Seaford Fire House, 2170 Southard Ave., Seaford.
The coalition also will install nine directors to its first board. Each director has been elected by civic associations from within his or her region. The board must receive a majority vote from its member civic groups before taking a specific position on any issue.
The coalition also has invited the Nassau County Office of Emergency Management to give a presentation on hurricane preparedness.
A question-and-answer period will follow and the floor will then open to other issues that might concern Nassau County residents.
