Nassau County October Scholar Artist, Leerone Hakami
Leerone Hakami is a dedicated student violinist at J.L. Miller/Great Neck North High School.
Leerone has been selected for Nassau’s All County festivals every year since elementary school and NYSSMA’s All-State festival each year that she was eligible.
Since 2008, Leerone has spent her Saturdays participating in the Mannes College Preparatory Division where she is immersed in the study of music including theory, ear training, dictation, solfeggio, history, analysis and performance. She carries herself as a professional and inspires her peers to strive for higher levels of musicianship. Younger students are influenced by her artistry and dedication to her craft.
Outside of her school’s musical activities, Leerone plays the violin at senior centers, religious services, and nursery schools. She volunteers with the school’s Friendship Circle, mentoring and spending time with an autistic peer. She serves her school assisting her teacher in a ninth grade Spanish class, and as a peer leader.
Leerone plans to continue with her musical studies throughout college and beyond. She hopes to double major in college with music being one of her majors. Leerone sees the violin as a life-long passion.
