Nassau girls lacrosse playoff schedule

• Class A Semifinals

No. 5 Syosset vs. No. 1 Farmingdale, 4 p.m. Monday at Adelphi University
Syosset advanced with a 13-4 win over Hicksville. Connor Bird scored four goals and Kim Presuto made 16 saves. The Braves had lost in last year's quarterfinals. The Dalers, seven-time defending Nassau champs, rolled to a 20-3 win over MacArthur on Wednesday. Amanda Turturro and Johnna Leone each scored three goals, and Nadine Hadnagy had two goals and three assists. (Note: Kudos to Leone for scoring her first points. Former #11 must be so proud.)   

No. 3 Port Washington vs. No. 2 Massapequa, 6 p.m. at Adelphi University
Danielle Rosmarin and Natalie Ledwitz each scored five goals in Port Washington's 12-9 win over Baldwin in the quarterfinals. Danielle Doherty had five goals and three assists as Massapequa beat Oceanside, 14-3, in the quarterfinals. The Chiefs have reached the Class A final eight straight years. A little symmetry there: Port Washington beat Baldwin by 4 last year, too, to advance to the semifinals against Massapequa.
 

• Class B Quarterfinals (all games at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday)

No. 9 Calhoun vs. No. 1 Garden City
Nora Charidah had five goals, including the deciding tally with four minutes left, as Calhoun held on to beat Lynbrook, 14-13, in the first round on Monday. The Colts had lost in the first round last season. Krista Dampman's three goals led Garden City in a 15-2 win over Carey in the first round. The Trojans are the seven-time defending Class B state champs.

No. 5 Long Beach vs. No. 4 Plainedge
Hannah Sofield had three goals in Long Beach's 17-4 win over New Hyde Park in Monday's first round matchup. Jacqueline Kennedy scored four goals for Plainedge in its 18-8 win over Bethpage to advance. Long Beach/Plainedge met just two weeks ago, with the Red Devils pulling out an 8-7 win. Long Beach, however, eliminated them in the playoffs last year.

No. 6 South Side vs. No. 3 Wantagh
Michaela Lynch's five goals and three assists sparked South Side's 13-8 win over Floral Park in the first round. Nikki Sliwak, Catie Ingrilli and Ali Tooker each had four goals as the Warriors flexed in a 23-5 win over Herricks in the first round. This game will be a rematch of last year's quarterfinal, which Wantagh dominated en route to making the county final.

No. 10 Division vs. No. 2 Manhasset
Alyssa Fiore scored the winner with 1:56 left in the second overtime as Division edged Hewlett, 14-13, to advance. For Manhasset, Katherine Nicosia and Christina Manis each had three goals as they beat Mepham, 18-3. The Blue Dragons fell in the first round last year and Manhasset lost in the semifinals.
 

• Class C Semifinals

No. 4 Seaford vs. No. 1 Cold Spring Harbor, 4 p.m. at Adelphi University
Ali Glazer had four goals and Emma Schait had two goals and two assists as Seaford beat Island Trees, 14-10, in the quarterfinals on Wednesday. Cold Spring Harbor got a bye and they last played on May 6. Last year, Seaford reached the semifinals and nearly knocked off top-seeded North Shore. Cold Spring Harbor reached the final and also nearly knocked off North Shore.

No. 3 Locust Valley vs. No. 2 North Shore, 6 p.m. at Adelphi University
Preston Tansill and Julia Palermo - both of whom suffered ACL tears last season - each scored three goals to lead the Falcons' 18-10 victory over Clarke. North Shore received a bye and they, like Cold Spring Harbor, haven't played since May 6. The Vikings are the two-time defending Nassau Class C champ.

** Just to make a lot of people mad, on Sunday, I'm gonna post picks for who'll win the county championships. And to be bold - and make even more people mad - I'll predict the Long Island champions for each class. Of note: My only incorrect pick last year was Cold Spring Harbor winning Nassau "C." And I heard it from North Shore... and got put in a sleeper hold at the LIC.
