Nassau Girls Lacrosse Rankings

1. Garden City (6-0)
They're at it again, silencing the doubts. The 6-0 start with wins over Manhasset and Massapequa earns them the top spot.

2. Manhasset (4-1)
A week ago, the Indians looked a team capable of running the table. One loss doesn't change everything - certainly not a 10-9 defeat in overtime - but their standing does take a hit.

3. Farmingdale (4-0)
The Dalers have quietly gone about their business and an argument could be made for them being ranked higher (I've argued with myself). But it's subjective and last week's 7-6 win over Long Beach does cost them a couple of style points. Still, Farmingdale is in the upper echelon and they'll have a chance to prove just how high with games against Cold Spring Harbor, Wantagh, Massapequa and Garden City coming up.

4. Wantagh (6-1)
The Warriors came out of the gates full-speed with a 5-0 start but were brick-walled by Manhasset, 19-7, last week. Manhasset had lost twice to Wantagh last year, including in the Class B semifinals. The Warriors quickly rebounded with a 16-6 win over Port Washington.

5. Cold Spring Harbor (5-1)
Since opening the season with a loss to Wantagh, the Seahawks have won five straight and look sharp. They also flexed a bit in beating North Shore, 11-8, on April 11. That's as close to a blowout as possible, considering these teams had played one-goal games for three years.  

6. Massapequa (3-3)
Hayley Burke's goal late in the second half lifted the Chiefs over Plainedge, 11-10, and got them back to the .500 mark. It was Massapequa's fourth one-goal game already this year.

7. Sacred Heart (4-4)
Sarah Galzerano's goal with 2:30 remaining lifted the Spartans over Pingry (N.J.), 12-11, for their fourth straight win on Saturday. Sacred Heart opened its new field on April 6 and, so far, they're 2-0 at home with two overtime wins.

8. North Shore (4-4)
Tess Korten scored four goals as the Vikings came back from their loss to Cold Spring Harbor with a 14-9 win over South Side on Saturday. The last three spots in the top 10 are almost interchangeable, but North Shore gets the nod for now because of its early-season win over Sacred Heart.

9. Long Beach (3-3)
The Marines get credit for hanging with Farmingdale and threatening to pull an upset. They'll really be tested this week with games against Manhasset (Monday) and Wantagh (Thursday).

10. Plainedge (3-3)
The Red Devils have dropped two in a row since a one-goal win over North Shore. Granted, those losses were to Cold Spring Harbor and Massapequa. We'll give them props for playing 'Pequa close in an 11-10 loss. Plainedge will visit Manhasset on Thursday.
