Nassau Legis. Carrié Solages and PBA forming public safety committee

Nassau County Legis. Carrié Solages (D-Elmont) is forming an Elmont/Valley Stream public safety committee with the Nassau County Police Benevolent Association, officials said.

Solages and the Nassau PBA plan to join forces to talk about policing and enforcement issues in Elmont and Valley Stream since the Fifth Precinct became a community policing center last year.

A community meeting is scheduled on Dec. 18 from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the American Legion Post 854 at 51 Roosevelt Ave. in Valley Stream. The guest speaker will be PBA president Jim Carver. Breakfast will be served.
