Nassau County’s girls swimming championships were held this past Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Nassau Aquatic Center. Garden City won its 13th straight title with a score of 534. Bellmore-Merrick came in second with 427 and Manhasset finished third with 342. Here are the results from each event:

200 Yard Medley Relay
Garden City’s team of Marie Clarkson, Kelly Quinn, Natasha Senken, and Julia Hall won with a state-qualifying time of 1:52.88

200 Yard Freestyle
Massapequa sophomore Molly Treble won and qualified for states in 1:51.82. Garden City’s Lindsey Schlichte (1:52.81), Bellmore-Merrick’s Kerry Giovaniello (1:55.26), Long Beach’s Cady Zawatson (1:55.32), and Syosset’s Jackie Teller (1:56.25) all qualified for states as well.

200 Yard Individual Medley
Olivia Chan of Sewanhaka won in 2:04.16, a little under a second more than her county-record 2:03.45. Bellmore-Merrick freshman duo Paige Kaplan (2:10.40) and Jessica Arana (2:10.42) were able to qualify for states.

50 Yard Freestyle
Juniors Gabbie Toback of Bellmore-Merrick (1st in :24.27) and Trudiann Patrick of Jericho (2nd in :24.46) both qualified for states.

1 Meter Diving
Hicksville’s Lauren Cecco won with a final score of 487.95. The diving championships were held on Wednesday, Nov. 2.

100 Yard Butterfly
Trudiann Patrick came in first with a time of :57.11. Great Neck South senior Angelica Sun was right behind her, finishing in :57.66 to qualify for states. Paige Kaplan also qualified for states in :59.72.

100 Yard Freestyle
Kerry Giovanniello won in :52.75, just 0.43 more than Olivia Chan’s county record of :52.32. Lindsey Schlichte finished second and qualified for states in :54.00.

500 Yard Freestyle
Molly Treble won her second event, finishing in 4:59.79. Cady Zawatson finished in 5:07.58 to qualify for states.

200 Yard Freestyle Relay
Bellmore-Merrick’s team of Gabbie Toback, Paige Kaplan, Kerry Giovanniello, and Jessica Arana qualified for states and set a new county record with a time of 1:39.47. Kaplan, Giovanniello, and Arana are all freshmen, and Toback is a junior. Manhasset’s team of Madeleine Quinn, Kelsey Brown, and sisters Sarah and Olivia Henry qualified for states in 1:41.81.

100 Yard Backstroke
Gabbie Toback won her second individual event in :56.94,  just 0.50 over the county record of :56.44. Marie Clarkson (1: 00.79) and Jessica Arana (1:00.87) qualified for states.

100 Yard Breaststroke
Olivia Chan finished in 1:03.73, again coming close to her own county record (1:03.21).

400 Yard Freestyle
Bellmore-Merrick’s team of Toback, Arana, Giovanniello, and senior Natalia Wilkins finished in 3:39.04 to qualify for states.
