Nassau County will be the host site for the Long Island Meta-Leadership Summit for Preparedness June 14 and 15, County Executive Edward P. Mangano announced Wednesday.

The summit, the first held in New York State, will start June 14 with an evening orientation reception at the Hofstra University Club in Hempstead, followed with the full-day summit from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 15 at Adelphi University in Garden City.

Launched by the national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Foundation, the National Preparedness Leadership Initiative is a joint program of the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard and the Harvard School of Public Health.

The summit is part of a national effort to foster greater cross-sector collaboration to prepare for and respond to emergencies. It will include more than 200 local leaders from government, business and nonprofit organizations.
