Thirty new auxiliary police officers join the Nassau County police department Monday night, when they are scheduled to be sworn in during a graduation ceremony in Mineola.

The officers graduate after completing basic training at the county Police Academy.

Auxiliary officers volunteer their time and assist the department during special events, such as parades, festivals and emergency situations.

The new officers will serve in Elmont, Valley Stream, East Rockaway, West Hempstead, Rockville Centre, Uniondale, Merrick, Levittown, Bellmore, North Bellmore, New Hyde Park, Syosset, Jericho, Hicksville, Plainview, Oceanside, Massapequa and the Five Towns, police officials said.

The ceremony will be at 7 p.m. at the Legislative Chambers of the Theodore Roosevelt Executive Building on Franklin Avenue.
