Nassau ups patrols around temples and synagogues for Passover

Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano and Police Commissioner Thomas Dale announced intensified police patrols around temples and synagogues for the eight-day Passover holiday, which began Monday at sundown.

“The Nassau County Police Department will take any and all threats to public safety seriously,” Mangano said, adding that no specific terrorist or hate crime threat has been made in the county.

Still, Mangano reminded residents that if they see something, they should say something to Nassau County police.

"This is a . . . chance to give thanks for our blessings, and reaffirm our faith, while spending time with the people we love,” he said. “I would like to wish a happy Passover to all those celebrating."
