These stories and databases are based on U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filings for fiscal 2011 for the major publicly traded companies on Long Island and the Westchester-Rockland-Hudson Valley region, and on the largest 100 public companies in New York City. Information in the databases was collected by S&P Capital IQ, a business line of the McGraw-Hill Cos. that provides financial data, research and analytics.

The data are current as of Aug. 15, 2012. Financial reports are counted as 2011 results if more than half the fiscal year occurred in 2011; so, for instance, annual results reported in March 2012 are considered 2011 results. Several companies, including Pall Corp. and Broadridge Financial Services Inc., have disclosed 2012 compensation and financial results, which will be included in next year’s guide.
