Ann Romney: Mitt right on tax return issue
WASHINGTON -- Mitt Romney's wife is reinforcing her husband's refusal to make public more of his tax returns, saying "we've given all you people need to know" about the family's finances.
President Barack Obama and his surrogates have been pushing Romney, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, to release more than two years of tax returns. Some members of Romney's party have agreed, although others say the idea is a distraction.
Ann Romney told ABC News Thursday that she believes the Obama campaign's attacks on her husband have been "beneath the dignity of the presidency." And she says people will decide whom to vote for based on whether their lives would be better under her husband or Obama.
She said she believes voters are "going to fire the coach."
Ann Romney said the family gives 10 percent of its income to the Mormon church and her husband took no salary during his four years as Massachusetts governor. That should be enough to put aside people's concerns about his finances, she said. -- AP
