PRESCOTT, Ariz. -- A woman was arrested after she allegedly taped shut her 7-year-old son's mouth and bound his wrists together.

The Yavapai County sheriff's office said a deputy saw Samantha Lyons, 42, of Cornville, wrap clear packing tape around the boy's head and over his mouth last week. The child was crying in an SUV parked in front of a store in Cottonwood.

Lyons was booked into the Camp Verde Detention Center on one count of suspicion of child abuse through domestic violence and one count of intentional child abuse. She has been released on bond.

Deputies notified Child Protective Services for a follow-up. -- AP
