Bail set in case of Hicksville man killed in bar

Bail has been set at $75,000 for a man charged in the death of a 23-year-old Hicksville man whose throat was cut by flying  glass in a Boston bar.

Hector Guardiola of Boston pleaded not guilty on Monday to a manslaughter charge in Roxbury District Court.

A prosecutor said Guardiola threw a glass beer mug at a man he was arguing with at The Landsdowne Pub early Saturday morning. The mug shattered and a shard of glass struck Michael DiMaria, of Hicksville, cutting his jugular vein.

Assistant Suffolk District Attorney Ian Polumbaum said Dimaria was not involved in the argument that led to the glass throwing, nor were two other people injured by flying glass.

Guardiola’s lawyer, Al Hutton, said his 25-year-old client has no history of violent behavior.
