Bay City teacher keeps promise, eats bugs

A group of teachers at a Bay City elementary school ate bugs Wednesday as part of a deal one of them made with her students.

Kolb Elementary first-grade teacher Gina Anderson challenged her students to raise more than $500 as part of "March is Reading Month."

If the students succeeded, Anderson promised to eat worms and crickets in front of the class.

The students did.

And so did she.

Joining in on the meal was fourth-grade teacher Bob Pawlak, Spanish teacher Angela Armendarez and special education teacher Jamie Godie.

The Bay City Times reports that while the teachers took their spots at the table, an "eat the bugs" chant filled the classroom.

Anderson says bugs aren't on her diet, but she'll do anything for her class.
