What happened:

  • California Sen. Kamala Harris accepted the Democratic vice presidential nomination. She is the first woman of color on a major party ticket. "In this election, we have a chance to change the course of history. We're all in this fight," she said.
  • Former President Barack Obama gave a blistering rebuke of his successor, President Donald Trump. He warned that the future of American democracy is on the line in the race between Trump and Joe Biden.
  • We also heard on this third night of the Democratic National Convention from 2016 presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, former Arizona Rep. Gabby Giffords and singer Billie Eilish. Kerry Washington emceed.
