Authorities say an infant was pulled unconscious from a fire in a Brooklyn brownstone where four other people also were injured.

The Fire Department of New York says the infant was taken to New York Methodist Hospital in critical condition.

The FDNY says a second person from the three-story brownstone also was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Two other people with burns were taken in serious condition to another hospital. A firefighter suffered minor injuries.

None of the victims have been identified.

The FDNY says they got a 911 call about the blaze on President Street between Fourth and Fifth avenues about 12:17 p.m. Thursday. The fire was centered on the building's top floor. It was under control less than an hour later.

The cause is under investigation.
